Vieques, Puerto Rico
The sail from St Thomas to Vieques, PR takes about 5 hours. Vieques is a fun sail and has a few bar / restaurant options offering outdoor seating (within walking distance of the dinghy dock.)
In 2006 Guinness Book of World Records recognized Vieques, Mosquito Bay as the brightest bioluminescent bay in the world.
Like many Islands, while dining outdoors you will likely have wild chickens and cats interested in handouts. Wild horses wander around the island freely and often spotted running down the street.
Helpful tips and how-to-videos specific to Morale Compass coming soon.
Leinster Bay, St John
Leinster Bay is a fun place for the beach and reef snorkling. It is most famous for the easy hike to the Anneburg Sugar Plantation.
Floating Mooring Pay Stations: Most of the Bays in St John are National Park areas therefore ancorage is not allowed, however Mooring balls are available. The Mooring Pay Stations are usually guarded by a few Pelicans and Seagulls! The key is to Moor your vessel first, then take your trusty dinghy to the pay station.
Cruz Bay, St Thomas
Cruz Bay is a fun place to moor to enjoy some shopping, dining, reprovisioning or just catching a sunrise. It's also a great place to hop on a ferry to Red Hook.
This could be you enjoying a relaxing sailing adventure in the US Virgin Islands.
Trying a little manual sail adjustment (for fun).
The Sunsets in the USVI never dissapoint.
Coral Bay, St John
Coral Bay is the only ancorage Bay on St John. (Every other Bay is by mooring only) The best attraction for Coral Bay is Lime Out Taco floating Taco Bar. Check the website but usually it is only closed on Tuesdays.
The place is a hoot, you have to try it once.
There is a dinghy dock, however it's a long walk to restaurants, grocery stores and shops. If you are reprovisioning there are closer places to tie up a dinghy.
Compass Point Marina has 2 on-site dining options:
The Dive Bar - Open 7 days a week 3 PM to 11 PM.
An Hour Late - Open Tuesday thru Sunday 7 AM to 2 PM (Closed Monday)
Another excellent (and nearby) option (a short cab ride) is Secret Harbour Beach Resort.
